In light of the 100 years passed since the Armenian Genocide, the 1.5 million victims of the catastrophe were canonized on April 23, 2015. Armenian churches around the globe held a direct TV-connection with the Mayr Ator Surb Echmiadzin to take part in the ceremony. The events in the ‘Holy Spirit’ Armenian Church in Amsterdam were shown live on Armenian national television (H1). The ceremony was concluded at 19:15 (local time Armenia) to symbolize the year of the genocide within the Ottoman Empire. In addition the Armenian Church in Amsterdam joined Armenian churches worldwide in ringing the bells a hundred times.
